Marquette Club San Diego Virtual Happy Hour
Stay connected while social distancing.
Join the MU Club of San Diego for a casual virtual happy hour this week. You’ll get updates from fellow alumni and Marquette! We encourage participants to grab a beverage of your choice, lift your spirits and enjoy a Marquette virtual get-together while we all stay safe at home.
Rev. Greg Boyle, S.J., founder of Homeboy Industries, will join our gathering and share his story of starting Homeboy Industries.
When Fr. Greg became pastor of Dolores Mission Church, the poor L.A. Catholic parish included the largest public housing projects west of the Mississippi and had a high concentration of gang activity.
At the time, law enforcement suppression and criminal justice policies of mass incarceration were the prevailing means to deal with gang violence. Fr. Greg did not sees criminals, he saw people in need and founded the largest gang-intervention, rehabilitation, and re-entry program in the world.
