Travis Diener’s basketball journey has come full circle; his college career at Marquette led to three different NBA teams, to playing national basketball for Italy, back to Marquette in a coaching role and now giving back to Marquette student-athletes.

Dr. Diane Held Munzenmaier, Arts ’84
Brookfield, Wis.
Dr. Diane Munzenmaier has devoted her career and her retirement to living the Jesuit concept of “men and women for others” — mentoring students, educators, and Marquette student-athletes. In both her professional and personal life, Diane finds gratification in helping students feel empowered and excited about learning.

Friend of Marquette Athletics Award
David J. Sullivan III, Sp ’86
Westport, Conn.
During his time at Marquette, Dave Sullivan was a member of the first men’s club lacrosse team. In the mid-1980s, lacrosse was not well known in Wisconsin, so he and his teammates had to drive down to Chicago to purchase lacrosse equipment. Since then, the lacrosse program has experienced huge growth, and Marquette varsity lacrosse players are now able to compete against some of the best programs in the country in the Big East Conference.

Andrea M. Bukacek, Bus Ad ’07
Racine, Wis.
As a student-athlete on the women’s tennis team, Andrea Bukacek learned right away that she was not only representing herself, but her team, the athletic department and the university, both on and off the court. Twenty years later, she applies that approach to leadership – putting relationships and reputation at the forefront – as the CEO and first female owner of Bukacek Construction Group in Racine.
