Young Alumna of the Year Award

FoyChristina K. Starkey, Bus Ad ’11
New York, N.Y.

Christina Starkey chose Marquette because she wanted to work in finance and was drawn to the rigor and job placement possibilities of the Accelerating Ingenuity in Markets program. But she also liked the feeling she got on campus. “One of my favorite things about Marquette,” she says, “was that you knew you were surrounded by good human beings who cared about doing well but also doing right by the people around them.”

Today, Christina leads Bank of America's interest rate and foreign exchange advisory team for large-cap U.S. technology, media, and telecom clients. She hopes someday to use her skills globally. She attended high school in Singapore and studied abroad in Beijing while at Marquette, “so finding ways to build international client relationships or run global teams is high on my career goals list,” she says.

Christina currently serves her industry as co-chair of the Women's Leadership Council at Bank of America. She notes that having female mentors has helped her career, “and it's very important to me to make sure we are equipping women with the tools, mentorship, and network to achieve success in the investment banking industry.”

She holds deep gratitude for David Krause, emeritus associate professor of finance and founder of the AIM program, who suggested that she apply for an internship at JPMorgan in New York City. She got the internship, which led to a full-time job after graduation. “I am so grateful to him for his connections,” she says, “and for always thinking about his students first.”

Name someone (past or present) with whom you'd like to have dinner.
My 7-year-old son, Clark. He is the ‘why’ behind everything I do, and if I had one person to choose to enjoy a meal with, it’d be him.
