Dwyane Wade has cultivated a spirit of service and giving back to the Marquette community that spans nearly a decade. Jan. 15, 2024 — Marquette alumnus and NBA Hall-of-famer Dwyane Wade makes $3 million gift to grow literacy, add scholarships and enhance Men’s Basketball

Marquette University alumnus and NBA Hall-of-famer Dwyane Wade has committed a $3 million gift that will make a major impact in three areas at the university. The gift will extend the Tragil Wade-Johnson Summer Reading Program, establish the Wade Scholars and support a new men’s basketball practice facility in a future expansion of the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center.

 

June 9, 2022 — Marquette alumnus and NBA legend Dwyane Wade makes major gift to continue to grow literacy for inner-city children

Marquette University alumnus and NBA legend Dwyane Wade gave a major gift to the university’s Ralph C. Hartman Literacy and Learning Center to extend his Live to Dream Summer Reading Program through 2025. Wade renamed the program after his sister, Tragil Wade-Johnson, who has been actively involved since they launched the effort in 2015 to curb the “summer slide” in reading achievement among inner-city Milwaukee school children. University leaders saw immediate educational gains in the participating students.

Dec. 5, 2014 — Miami Heat star and Marquette alumnus Dwyane Wade announces generous gift to the Ralph C. Hartman Literacy and Learning Center

Miami Heat star and Marquette alumnus Dwyane Wade announced a generous gift to the Ralph C. Hartman Literacy and Learning Center. The Wade's World Foundation gave $195,000 to help improve literacy among inner-city children. The next day, at a Marquette basketball game, Wade's World hosted a book drive for the Hartman Center.
