Robert L. and William P. McCahill Award
Hunter S. Eichhorn, Comm ’21, Grad ’22
Carney, Mich.
Hunter Eichhorn epitomizes the Marquette student-athlete: successful not only in athletics, but also academics and service. As he embarks on his next step, pursuing his career in professional golf in Tennessee, Hunter is taking the Marquette mission with him through a passion for helping others, self-improvement, learning from mistakes, and leading by example.
Hunter is one of the most decorated golfers and athletes to come through Marquette. He is the program's all-time leader in rounds played (142), counting scores (total and pct.), rounds of par-or-better (90) and career scoring average (71.38). Hunter also holds the single-round low score at Marquette with an 11-under par 61. Additionally, he ranks top three in the program in birdies (519), eagles (20), wins (6) and finish percentage (85.2%).
Hunter’s success on the course earned him both conference and national awards, including four times as an All-BIG EAST First Team selection and three times as BIG EAST Player of the Year. Hunter made four appearances at the NCAA Regionals and was named to the PING All-Midwest Region team four times. Academically, he earned BIG EAST All-Academic Team honors and was the recipient of the BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award for men's golf.
In addition to his many commitments to golf and academics, Hunter spent much of his time at Marquette giving back to others. He helped with golf clinics for local youths at the BIG EAST Championships and through the Wounded Warrior Project. Hunter also worked with elementary students at the Milwaukee Academy of Science and volunteered at the annual Blue & Gold Fund Auction to help raise money for Marquette Athletics.

Kobe Bryant — his work ethic, passion and willingness to find a way to get the most out of himself and others is something I would truly enjoy sitting down and chatting with him about.
Name a Marquette faculty or staff member who had an impact on you, and how.
Our head men’s golf coach, Steve Bailey, had the biggest impact on me. He set a great example of what it means to be a person of strong character. His selflessness in helping people around him is something that I will always admire. I learned a lot of incredible things from his leadership.
What is one of your favorite Marquette memories?
One of my favorite Marquette memories was our team trip to Scotland. It was the trip of a lifetime, and I was fortunate enough to do it with some of my best friends.
