The COVID-19 outbreak has been likely one of the most disruptive events to global supply chains in recent history. It has put an incredible stress on firms and exposed systemic weaknesses in how companies are managing their supply chains. The Center for Supply Chain Management will host industry expert Mr. Robert (Bob) Jahncke, Eng '78, and a long-standing director of Global Logistics and Supply Chain Operations at Seagate Technology. Mr. Jahncke will provide his view on what is going on in current global supply chains, what will be short- and long-term implications of this disruption and what companies should be doing about it. The talk will be moderated by Dr. Marko Bastl, Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management, at Marquette University.

Robert (Bob) Jahncke, Eng '78, worked with Seagate Technology for 25 years, leading the company's global logistics and supply chain operations organization. He received Seagate's "Chairman's Award" for innovation and excellence in 2012. Seagate Technology was honored as a top-25 global supply chain by Gartner, Inc. Additionally, Bob has been a guest lecturer on logistics and supply chain operations since 2008 in higher-education institutions including Indiana University, Colorado State University and Marquette University. He has presented at numerous global conferences on supply chain management and logistics.

Dr. Marko Bastl is associate professor of supply chain management at Marquette University. He has over 20 years of executive and academic experience. He held various executive positions in the manufacturing and service industries, with the last being head of corporate finance and operations controlling in a paper manufacturing business. His research and teaching addresses some of the most topical questions in supply chain management practice and theory, including how to manage multi-tier buyer-supplier relationships, how to manage buyer-supplier relationship exits, and how to enhance supply network transparency.
