The objective of this session is to equip organizational leaders with the skills to help dismantle institutional racism by igniting the spark of change in their own respective organizations. Participants will gain a greater understanding of institutions and institutional racism, recognize the necessity of diversity for organizational success, identify the leadership skills necessary to champion diversity in organizations, and empower bottom-up organizational change.

Dr. Eric D. Waters is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies in the Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University. At Marquette, Dr. Waters co-coordinates the Concentration in Communication Leadership (C-LEAD) program while teaching graduate and undergraduate coursework in Organizational, Corporate, Managerial and Financial Communication. Off campus, Dr. Waters provides coaching and training for the Milwaukee business community centered on enhancing communication skills. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies with an emphasis on Organizational Communication and Technology from the University of Texas at Austin.
