The Marquette University Advancement team raised $100.5 million in new gifts and confirmed pledges in fiscal year 2023. This marks the third year of raising more than $100 million in the university’s historic Time to Rise campaign, which is making an impact with students, faculty and staff in every corner of campus. Dr. Elsbeth Kalenderian named next dean of the Marquette University School of Dentistry

Elsbeth Kalenderian, D.D.S., MPH, Ph.D., professor in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the Amsterdam University Medical Center, has been named dean of the Marquette University School of Dentistry. She will begin in the role on Aug. 14. Read more.

Marquette EOP receives $800,000 to pilot Cyber Explorers pre-college program

Marquette’s Educational Opportunity Program has received funding from the U.S. Department of Education to pilot the Seizing Opportunities Academic Readiness Cyber Explorers Pilot Program. Read more.

Health Sciences professor receives $2 million R01 grant to study opioid addiction

Dr. Matthew Hearing, H Sci '03, assistant professor of biomedical sciences in the College of Health Sciences, has received a more than $2 million R01 grant from the National Institutes of Health. Read more.

Alumni Spotlight

Buttino Jenny (Bobula) Buttino, Comm ’07, and Thomas Buttino, welcomed twins Maxx and Mia on March 29, 2023. They join older brother Roman. The family lives in Phoenix.

Christina Flowers, Comm ’07, put her journalism career on hold after receiving her third and fourth regional Emmy Awards with WKYC, an NBC affiliate in Cleveland and accepted the position of director of media relations for Connecticut College.

Brad Girsch, Bus Ad ’95, Grad ’03, joined Accuity Healthcare as vice president, growth. He lives in Cedarburg, Wis.
