COUNSELOR EDUCATION AND COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Dr. Matthew J. Krug, Grad ’05, ’12
Milwaukee, Wis.
Matt Krug is always ready for anything. It’s an attitude that’s vital to success when you’re the director of psychological services for the Milwaukee Brewers. Matt was one of the first in the MLB to hold that title and has a front row seat to success stories every day. After working with someone to better themselves, he watches them hit the ground running, turning their dreams into reality.
Matt also works to educate the general population about the importance of seeking licensed and trained professional help when your mental health warrants doing so. After all, psychologists like Matt are here to help people find their purpose; he found his — enabling others to be their best — at Marquette.
Matt says, “Having a mission/purpose in life is important for both the person providing the service and the person receiving the service. Faith, and the guidance provided by our faith, provides an outstanding mission/purpose.” Through faith, he’s developed an innate ability to serve. Matt spent a decade on Wisconsin Lutheran’s college campus, educating the next generation of psychologists. For more than two decades he has been involved with professional athletes and coaches in the MLB, the NFL, the PGA and TaylorMade Golf, helping them continue to shine bright, no matter their personal circumstances. People come first, and Matt ensures that each player is surrounded with holistic care. Going to bat for them is the first step to the road to victory.
