Interim Keyes Dean of the College of Business Administration at Marquette University, Timothy (Tim) Hanley, Bus Ad ’78, will be joined by Trustee Emeritus Darren Jackson, Bus Ad ’86, Retired President and Chief Executive Officer, Advanced Auto Parts, in a discussion of the importance of leadership in these challenging times. The two will provide important insights and perspectives into leadership in challenging times, gleaned from their extensive careers in top leadership positions across industry sectors. This talk is being presented by the College of Business Administration at Marquette University.

Timothy Hanley, Bus Ad ’78, is the Interim Keyes Dean of Business Administration at Marquette University. Recently, he retired as a Senior Partner with Deloitte LLP. Tim is a seasoned global executive, with extensive experience consulting with manufacturers regarding digital transformation, organizational strategy development and execution, acquisitions, and market development. Under his leadership, Deloitte’s Global Consumer and Industrial Products practice grew to be the largest at Deloitte, with over $14 billion in revenues. 

Tim has also served at Marquette University as a longtime member of the College of Business Administration Dean’s Advisory Council, and currently serves as a member of the university’s President’s Advisory Council and Campaign Executive Committee. In October of 2019, Tim became the college’s first ever executive-in-residence. He was recognized in 2012 as the College of Business Administration’s Distinguished Alumni of the Year.

Darren Jackson, Bus Ad ‘86, served as Chief Executive Officer of Advance Auto Parts, Inc. from 2008-2016. Darren joined Advance Auto Parts as a member of the board in July 2004. During his tenure he served as president of the company on two occasions. Prior, Darren served in executive positions with Best Buy Co., Inc., from 2001-2007. Prior to 2000, he acted as vice president and chief financial officer of Nordstrom, Inc., and held various senior positions, including chief financial officer of Carson Pirie Scott & Company.

Darren served/serves on many boards, including as a director of Fastenal Company, chairman of the board for Cree, Marquette University Board of Directors, the board of Cristo Rey Jesuit – Twin Cities as well as the Cristo Rey Network. Darren and his wife Terry were instrumental in the launch and are co-chairs of the Marquette University President's Advisory Council. Inspired by their work with the Cristo Rey high school network and the Minneapolis-based Wallin Educational Partners, they founded All-In Milwaukee, a nonprofit supporting high-potential, limited income Milwaukee students navigating college.
