Are you looking for a rewarding and meaningful way to serve God and your community? Ignatian Volunteer Corps may be the perfect connection.
IVC is a faith-based non-profit that was founded in 1995 by two Jesuit priests who envisioned matching the life experiences and spiritual longings of men and women (50 or older) with established community organizations serving the poor and marginalized.
IVC volunteers serve one or two days per week, 10 months per year. These dedicated individuals come from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions and share a strong desire to make a positive difference in their communities and to deepen their faith in the Ignatian tradition.
Partnering community organizations provide IVC volunteers with meaningful work that serves individuals and families challenged by poverty. Volunteer placements are broad in scope and can include roles in administration, counseling, legal services, teaching, finance, technology, and others.
Marquette alumni in Milwaukee, Chicago and other IVC regions who are retired or close to wrapping up a career are making vital contributions in their communities. Even during this challenging time in our nation’s history, IVC volunteers are engaging to respond to the moment.
Do you enjoy working with children and want to help change a child’s life?
IVC Milwaukee is seeking volunteer reading tutors, two hours each week during school hours. Tutors work one-on-one with the same students throughout the school year, so meaningful relationships can develop. Due to COVID-19, tutoring may take place virtually depending on state and city recommendations for schools come September 2020.
Watch one tutor share her experience at St. Catherine’s School. To learn more, contact IVC volunteer Kathleen Mantz at kathleen.mantz@gmail.com.
