FRIENDS OF MARQUETTE ATHLETICS AWARD
Beth M. Pavletich and Joseph A. Pavletich, Jr., D.D.S., Dent ’87
Brookfield, Wis.
Beth and Joe have been long and proud supporters of Marquette Athletics and its student-athletes. In fact, their combined fandom has spanned more than four decades.
Joe’s first introduction to Marquette Athletics was in the late 1960s, when his friend’s father took neighborhood kids to men’s basketball games. “I became hooked,” he says. When it came time to apply to dental school, Marquette was the only place he wanted to go.
Now a dentist with two family practices, Joe and his wife, Beth, a field ops manager for Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation, show their support through athletic scholarships and dedication as fans. One of their favorite Marquette memories was from September 14, 2018, when the Marquette women’s volleyball team played Wisconsin for the first time in 10 years. Knowing that Wisconsin fans would travel to see the game, Joe and Beth purchased all available seats in the lower level of the Al McGuire Center and gave them out to Marquette fans for free—all to “keep the red out” and give their team a home-court advantage.
The couple also recognizes the value of a Marquette education, which Joe shows through his interactions with patients. “I strive to be more than a health care provider,” he says, “which can include guidance counseling, therapy, advice and mentoring.”
Both are honored and humbled to be recognized for their efforts. “When we are passionate about something, we put our hearts and souls into it,” they say. “We want the best for Marquette student-athletes.”
Fun Fact:
The couple enjoys giving back to their community through volunteer work. Beth is an avid volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. “Joe and I plan on doing much more with this great organization in the future,” she says.
