DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR AWARD

RofflerMichael J. Roffler, Bus Ad ’93
San Francisco, Calif.

For Mike, Marquette’s mission has shaped his life, encouraging him not only to be a successful finance and accounting professional, but also to lead with purpose, helping others live a healthier lifestyle and giving back to future generations of students.

As the CFO of First Republic Bank, Mike helps lead an organization dedicated to delivering extraordinary client service and to creating value for clients, colleagues and shareholders. He has spent his career so far mentoring and serving others, first at KPMG and now with First Republic Bank.

As a board member for the Bay Area American Heart Association, Mike also has been able to serve his community while encouraging others to live a healthy lifestyle. He is grateful for the opportunity to join with companies where he lives in promoting healthy activities for their employees.

“I believe that the broad, Jesuit-based education is a critical part of the Marquette experience.  For business and engineering students, taking philosophy and theology courses helps you think about things from different perspectives when you get out into the real world – to consider other points of view and then come to your own conclusion,” he says.

A first-generation college student, Mike and his wife Cori, Bus Ad ’94, consider it one of their personal missions to give back to educational institutions they and their children have attended, so that future generations can access education. The Rofflers’ daughter, Emma, is currently a junior at Marquette.

Fun Fact:

Favorite Marquette memories: Our senior year, I remember sitting in our apartment with my roommates and the absolute joy when we were announced as the last team into the NCAA tournament in 1993.

Living at McCormick the last year (1989-90) before it went coed. Absolutely loved it and the bonds built that first year at MU.
