Pedro Arrupe was the Superior General of the Society of Jesus from 1965 to 1981. He was a man of simplicity, warmth and optimism who became known as a "man for others." He lived a life committed to serving the poor and led others to explore the link between faith and justice. In 1991, the Marquette University Alumni Association National Board of Directors established the Pedro Arrupe Award to recognize service that exemplifies the spirit of a Marquette education.
The Pedro Arrupe Award honors an outstanding junior who has shown exemplary service to the Marquette community and beyond. Nominees and recipients have provided significant leadership in community service and have been advocates for those in need. The recipient will also be considered for an additional financial aid award, depending on unmet tuition and/or financial need. The recipient will be honored at the Pedro Arrupe Award presentation in Spring 2026 and recognized with the Alumni National Award recipients.
